Messier 3, taken on 23rd March 2022. Taken with a SkyWatcher Explorer 300PDS on a SkyWatcher EQ6-R mount, ZWO ASI294MC Pro with Optolong L-Pro filter, 61 x 60s exposures in NINA, darks, dark flats and flats, stacked in APP and processed using StarTools and GIMP.

The three images from tonight, M3, M51 and M101 allowed me to test the new concrete pillar I recently installed. The pillar and EQ6 mount are now permanently in position. All the targets were in the FOV and off centre by a similar amount so a little refinement required.

M3 (William Bonar)
M3 Globular Cluster – is one of the largest and brightest star clusters, and is made up of around 500,000 stars. It is located at approx 34000 light-years from Earth and spans about 220 light-years. It is estimated to be 8 billion years old, making M3 one of the oldest formations in our galaxy.
