This workshop is for people new to astronomy who have a telescope and need help setting it up or learning how to get the best out of it.

Entry is FREE but registration is required as places are limited.

Maybe it’s a telescope you got for Christmas or as a birthday present but you haven’t worked out what to do with it yet.

There will be experienced amateur astronomers around to help you get the most out of your new telescope. We’ll help you learn how to use it and give you some suggestions of what to observe too. If skies are clear the Moon should be visible to practice on.

If you need help buying a new telescope, have a look at our Buying a Telescope for Christmas guide.

Parking is available round the back of the church building. Follow the signs to David Lloyd and turn left immediately. Enter the Gyle Hall through the gate at the rear of the church – see below. There will be signs outside.

Feel free to bring your new telescope along if you are able, but be aware that our insurance does not cover the telescope.
