Hunting Outbursting Young Stars (HOYS)
15 May 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm BST
This will be a fascinating talk by Dr Dirk Froebrich of the University of Kent. Learn how you can be involved in leading-edge astronomical research using your own equipment and imaging skills. ASE members will join via Zoom and visitors can watch live on our YouTube channel. You can ask questions of the speaker at the end of the talk, either through Zoom chat or YouTube comments.
The talk will give a brief overview on how stars and planets are forming. I will explain how amateur observations are vital in our HOYS project and how we use them to study the disks around young stars (where the planets form) as well as the surface of the stars in great detail. I will briefly explain how people can participate in the project and discuss some of our very recent results.
