Get Ready for the Eclipse
5 August @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm BST
Dynamic Earth is running an event on 5 Aug to help people get ready for the partial eclipse of the Sun on 12 Aug. We will be there along with the Astronomer Royal for Scotland, Prof. Catherine Heymans, to do some solar observing and help you observe the eclipse itself safely.
Here’s the information from their website:
A spectacular solar event is coming to Scotland’s skies this August – and Dynamic Earth is here to help you get eclipse-ready! Ahead of the partial solar eclipse this August, join us on Wednesday 5th August for Get Ready for the Eclipse: a lively day of space science and hands-on discovery.
Drop in for free activities, where you can find out how solar telescopes work and learn the safest ways to enjoy the eclipse. Meet Professor Catherine Heymans, Astronomer Royal for Scotland; volunteers from the Astronomical Society of Edinburgh; and Dynamic Earth’s own in-house astronomers Dr Alastair Bruce and Toni Newell. Then step into our 360° Planetarium for a live presenter-led stargazing show with a special solar focus!
Bring your questions, discover hands-on activities, and get ready for this summer’s must-see moment in the sky!
‘Get Ready for the Eclipse’ is proudly supported by the Institute of Physics.
