Talk by Peter Goodhew

In the past 10 years amateur astronomers have made a significant contribution to astronomical research by discovering hundreds of new planetary nebulae, as well as other objects such as supernova remnants. Peter will talk about how this is done, and the challenges of imaging ultra-faint, and sometimes very small, targets using amateur equipment. He will present a selection of the most recent discoveries.

Bio:
Peter is part of an international pro-am team searching for new planetary nebulae and other cosmic objects. He has been imaging planetary nebulae for the past 8 years. He operates a dedicated robotic observatory located in a dark sky location in Southern Spain. His images are frequently published, with many winning awards. Peter is a Fellow of The Royal Astronomical Society.
