Did you see it on on 10 May 2024? Wow – what an amazing spectacle! A first-time experience for many, easily visible even from the city centre.

This breath-taking phenomenon was caused by several coronal mass ejections (CMEs), later classified as an “extreme” geomagnetic storm. The last of this magnitude was in October 2003 that produced blackouts in Sweden and damaged power infrastructure in South Africa.
