Anyone who saw Das Rheingold at the Festival Theatre in August will have noticed that the main curtain and the stage backdrops showed a night sky, but not one familiar to us. Clearly the action takes place in 'another part of the Universe'. There were also hyper-dimensional moments when the gods entered and exited through a 'door' in the sky! Fascinating. I look forward to more operatic astronomy in Die Walkare next year.
