Summer 1996 Programme of Meetings
City Observatory, Calton Hill, Edinburgh EH7 5AA
Meetings are held on Fridays, within the City Observatory, at

(unless otherwise stated)
March 30th Open Day
A Saturday afternoon and evening of astronomical events.
From 2pm we will have an exhibition of posters and
photographs, a series of short talks on astronomical topics
and, weather permitting, some observing. We hope to see the
Sun, the Moon, Venus, and Comet Hyakutake. (Things will
probably end at around 5pm if the weather is not suitable for
observing - if it's clear then we will be there till quite a
bit later.)

Observatory Opening Times
Following each Lecture meeting (usually on the first Friday
of each month) tea and biscuits are served in the Playfair
Building and the Telescopes and Library are available for
use.
The Society's Council meets regularly (usually on the last
Friday of the month) and the Telescopes and Library are
available for use following this. Barring extremely urgent
business, Council Meetings will finish by 21:00.
On other Fridays, the Observatory will be open from 20:00
until about 22:00. Members may wish to make use of the
Library on these nights or just come up for a chat about
astronomy with the duty Council Member. When the weather is
favourable we hope to have as many members and friends as
possible come to make use of the telescopes.
