The Astronomical Society of Edinburgh (ASE) has been holding meetings in Edinburgh to inform members and the general public about astronomy since 1924. We meet monthly, usually on the first Friday of the month at 8pm, and are always happy to see new faces at our meetings.
Membership
Anyone interested in astronomy is eligible for membership. Application forms and further information may be obtained from the Secretary or downloaded as a PDF file.
The Society holds lecture meetings throughout the year - normally the first Friday of each month. Members and beginners of all ages are encouraged to participate in the Society's activities.
Subscriptions
The annual subscription is payable on the 1st of October, the rate being determined by the Council. Currently, the subscription for the full session is £25 (£12 for concessions). For new members joining after March the subscription will cover the remainer to September and another full year. Subscriptions may be paid by Standing Order to the Society's bank account, or by cash or cheque to the Treasurer. Standing order details may be obtained from the Treasurer.
Journal
The Society publishes a Journal, usually quarterly. It is free to members, and contains articles of general astronomical interest, plus members' observing reports. The Society's Journal is available on-line.
Constitution
For those masochists who like reading long, boring, documents, here is the definitive text about the structure of the Astronomical Society of Edinburgh.
